Call Tracking

How does call tracking work on Kijiji?2023-03-09T15:46:15-04:00
Monitoring your calls2021-10-26T10:49:35-04:00

Monitor your Call Tracking reports to understand how you and your team are managing your phone calls. Are you missing a lot of calls, if so, is your team too busy, is the phone number connecting to the right agent? If your calls are short in duration, are you engaging clients and asking the right questions? Not sure what to do, or need more information? Contact your account manager for recommendations, or for help with a deep dive into the data.

What are Missed Call Alerts?2021-10-25T16:14:59-04:00

If Missed Call Alerts is enabled, you’ll receive an email notification to the lead email address associated with that listing which provides the caller’s phone number, preferred language and details about the listing they called about. This service allows you to recapture any leads that otherwise may have been missed, and set you up with the information you need to book an appointment on the call back.

What does Kijiji’s Call Tracking service do?2021-10-25T16:13:26-04:00

If Call Tracking is enabled, the phone number on your listing will be replaced with a unique tracking number, which rings through to your original phone number. By enabling this feature, you will be able to see how many calls you’ve received, missed, and call durations. In addition, we have also provided a “whisper” notification, which notifies you of an incoming call from Kijiji prior to connecting the call. Enable Missed Call Alerts to receive an email notification when you or your team misses a call!

Call Tracking – metrics definitions2021-10-26T11:21:15-04:00

Total Calls – The number of calls made to your listings within the selected date range (Answered Calls + Missed Calls)

Unique Calls – The number of calls from a unique phone number within the selected date range

Answered Calls – The number of calls made to your listings that were answered within the selected date range (voicemail = answered)

Missed Calls – The number of calls made to your listings that were not answered within the selected date range

Call Duration (Avg.) – The average length of calls made to your listings, in minutes within the selected date range

Call Tracking – enable feature2021-10-26T11:21:04-04:00

The Kijiji Call Tracking feature is a complimentary service that replaces the visible phone number on your Kijiji listing page, with a tracking number that rings through to the original number associated with your ad. Included with this feature are Call Tracking metrics which have been added to the Kijiji My Business Reports tool, a “whisper” function that alerts your staff of an inbound call from Kijiji, and an optional Missed Call Email Alert.

If you opt out of the Kijiji Call Tracking feature, you will not be able to review any data associated with phone calls made to your listings, including the number of calls received. This data cannot be retrieved in the future, but you can decide to opt back in at any time.

If you have any questions, please contact our support team.

Training

A more user-centric approach to recording data2022-09-26T16:15:52-04:00

To improve the accuracy of how we track and measure engagement, we are making four changes to how we now record data. The changes will be made on November 16, 2020 and are as follows:

1. User interactions with your listings will now be recorded based on the respective ‘User ID’ or ‘IP address’ that it is tied to. In the event that a ‘User ID’ or ‘IP address’ is unavailable we we will use browser cookies. Previously, we recorded user interactions based on device (like phone or desktop).

How this helps you: Your data will now give you a more accurate representation of how individual users are interacting with your listings.

2. Interactions will now be recorded once every 24 hours.

How this helps you: By moving to a 24 hour window we are improving our deduplication of repeat activity by the same user. Ex. If a person using the same User ID or IP address views a listing three times between 11am on Tuesday and 11am on Wednesday it will count as one unique view.

3. Based on the above improvements in deduplication we are renaming ‘Views’ to ‘Unique Views’.

4. We have also identified and fixed two errors:

  • We were not counting URL clicks in the Kijiji app, you can now expect total URL clicks will include this app activity.
  • Bot traffic caused an overcounting of Phone Reveal clicks. Our changes above will better limit the impact of bot traffic going forward.

How this helps you: You now have a clearer idea of how users are looking to reach you across all of our platforms.

Please note: As a result of these changes you will see a difference in the amount of views, URL clicks, and Phone Reveal clicks you typically observe. There will not be a change to your Email Replies or how users interact with your advertised listings.

If you have any questions about these changes please reach out to your Account Manager or our Support team.

How to manage Kijiji publishing times2021-10-26T11:40:30-04:00

Manual Posting ads in Kijiji My Business (KMB)
*All times are quoted in Eastern Standard Time

When?
KMB publishes ads three times daily, once at beginning at 6am, once at 10am, and another at 3pm. In order to have your ads posted, deleted, or updated, you must have them queued for posting/updating by 1am, 9am, and 1pm, respectively for the feed times above.

Why these times?
As a general note, updates and deletes will be completed quite quickly, as it does not affect the volume of ads on the site.

The time an ad takes to be posted is determined by the number of ads queued to be posted in your location and category. We schedule ads to avoid a sudden influx of ads on site, this is necessary to ensure that your ads stay on page 1 for a time before being pushed down by newer ads. As a result, we are unable to offer an exact time when individual ads will be posted.

What if?
If your ad was queued in time for one of the publishing times and you do not see the update or post take place, please wait for at least one additional post time to pass before asking us to investigate, minor delays will typically resolve themselves by our next feed cycle without intervention.

In the event that we expect delays in updates or new posts beyond one business day, we will post a notification in KMB with further details.

XML Feed Upload to KMB
We import XML feeds slightly earlier than the manual posting cutoff. All details regarding posting are the same as above.

The 11pm-1am import will begin to update on Kijiji during our morning publishing cycle, beginning at appx. 6am. The 11am-1pm import will begin to update on Kijiji beginning at approximately 3pm until all ads have updated. This update cycle includes any new ads, updates and deletes.

What’s the difference between the Virtual Tour attribute (checkbox in Kijiji My Business), and the Virtual Tour URL field, do I need to select both?2021-10-26T11:30:04-04:00

Prior to integrating Virtual Tours on Kijiji, we offered the option to communicate that a virtual tour was available by contacting the poster. To maintain this advantage for those who are not able to integrate virtual tours directly on Kijiji listings, we have left this option available. Renters can filter search results based on both of these options, so make sure to use the checkbox, and include a URL for best results.

How can I add Virtual Tours to my listings?2021-10-26T11:30:08-04:00

Kijiji Real Estate can accommodate tours provided by Matterport, or other providers using Matterport to power their software. When creating or editing an ad, include the URL for your tour under Virtual Tour Link on the New Ad or Edit Ad page.

Why do I need multiple logo sizes? What does that mean?2020-11-19T16:41:02-04:00

There are three placements for your logos that correspond to each of the sizes. The small logo appears on the search results page, the medium appears on your lisitng page, and the large logo appears on the “other ads”/gallery page.

How do I use keywords to enhance my listings?2020-05-22T12:02:18-04:00

Keywords are extremely important to making sure your ads can be found by the right renters. By integrating keywords into your Kijiji listings, you’ll be able to attract renters you may otherwise have missed. Here’s the important details:

  • The first 200 characters of your description, and your entire ad title is keyword searchable. If a renter’s search corresponds with the keywords in your ads, your ad will be one the search results.
  • You know your customers well, and what they’re looking for, so make sure to leverage your expertise when creating your titles and descriptions.
  • Contact your account rep for keyword recommendations.
How do I add logos?2020-05-20T22:06:06-04:00

Logos can be added to your ads by clicking the EDIT button for each Location. Navigate to the Locations tab, choose your Location, then scroll down to add logos. To add a logo for the entire account, please email [email protected] with the correct size images. A friendly reminder that the logo dimensions must be exact:

  • Small: 120×60 Pixels
  • Medium: 300×120 Pixels
  • Large: 728×90 Pixels
How can I group my listings together on my merchant gallery (view other ads)?2020-05-20T22:04:31-04:00

You have the option to present all listings in your account on your merchant page, or by building. To change your current experience or to learn more, please contact your account representative or our support team at [email protected].

Features of the merchant page:

  • By default, ads in the same building are presented on this page.
  • If you have ads in multiple regions, renters have the ability to select a city, narrowing their search to view only units available in the selected city.
  • Your large sized logo showcases your brand on this page.

Why are we offering this option?

  • We’re making it easier for a renter to check out other units after you’ve captured their attention.
  • This provides the ability to have a single URL linking to all of your Kijiji ads, which you can use internally and externally to reference your Kijiji merchant page.
  • We’re trying to get you more leads by keeping potential renters on your page as long as possible before looking elsewhere.
How can I upload photos to my listings?2021-10-26T11:33:20-04:00

Good question, photos are essential.

From your Edit Ad page, or New Ad page, scroll down and click Add Files, or simply drag and drop the images into the box and they will populate below. Please be sure to wait until all photos are visible, then click Save before navigating away from the page.

You can add up to 20 photos, and each must be 3.5mb or less. There are numerous online resizing tools available if your files are too big. Alternatively, email us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to assist.

How can I add video to my listings?2021-10-26T11:51:26-04:00

Kijiji listings can accommodate a video integrated through Youtube. When either creating, or editing an ad in Kijiji My Business manager, enter the URL that links to the Youtube video you’d like to add. Your video will appear in the first image position, moving your primary photo to the second slot. If you have questions, or need help, please contact support at [email protected].

What is a “Featured” ad?2021-10-25T17:01:18-04:00

Featured ads is one of the ways you can boost your ad’s visibility. It puts your property in an exclusive list that renters can filter/sort by. It also adds a red banner on your listings to make it stand out. Buy one in Kijiji My Business Manager, or contact your rep for more information about pricing.

How do I get more Features?2020-11-19T16:23:11-04:00

Please contact your account manager to inquire about discounted Feature bundles.

What happens with unused Features at the end of a month?2020-11-19T16:19:50-04:00

If you have pre-purchased a Feature bundle, they must be used within the calendar month. Unused Features will expire after the last day of the month.

How much do Features cost?2021-10-26T10:24:51-04:00

There are several features available (ex. bump ups), all at different price points. To view the price of a feature you’re interested in, you can select the feature in the Kijiji My Business Manager, and receive a price quote prior to purchase. See “How do I use features”? We encourage you to discuss your needs with your account manager, who can provide advice, tips, and provide discounts on bundles of features.

How do I use Features (like Top Ads or Bump Ups)?2021-10-26T10:28:56-04:00

Select the listings you’d like to promote with a feature on your Home dashboard by clicking the check boxes on the left. Once you’ve chosen all the listings you’d like to apply a feature to, select the preferred feature from the Promote Your Ads menu, and click “Apply”. Once processed and confirmed, these features will then take effect on the listings you’ve selected.

What is a bump up?2020-05-20T22:14:59-04:00

Back on top! Bump Ups push your ad back to the top of the listings on the first page. Your ad will remain in that spot until new Kijiji ads are posted in that category, at which point it will move down accordingly in the listings. Please keep in mind that there is an additional fee associated with this feature, for a bulk rate contact your advertising consultant. Please note:

  • The benefit of a bump up begins the moment it is applied, and therefore are non-refundable.
  • The Bump Up feature will reset the post date of your ad as if it’s a new listing.
What is a Top Ad?2020-05-20T22:13:38-04:00

King of the hill! Your ad is upgraded so a second copy of the ad appears in the “Top Ads” section at the top of a category listing page for a period of 7 days. 5 Top Ads are displayed at a time and result in higher numbers of impressions and views on your listings.

Bulk Featuring: Select all ads higher than page “x”2020-05-20T22:13:06-04:00

We’ve developed a really great way to help keep your ads highly visible, while reducing the effort it takes your team to apply features.

Ads on the first few pages get the most response, so managing your bump ups according to page number can be an effective strategy. Work with your advertising consultant to hone-in on your sweet spot and keep all your ads above that page easily.

Just enter a page number between 2-30, click “select” to choose the ads in that range, then select your feature to apply and you are done.

Feed/Syndication Management

Data Feed Partners – Listing automation2023-03-27T15:41:16-04:00

Kijiji is integrated with several 3rd parties who can syndicate listings to Kijiji. Kijiji currently supports listing automation from:

Rentsync
Yardi
Buildingstack
Showmojo
New Home Listing Service (Constellation Homebuilders)

To connect with one of these service providers, please contact them directly. Once you are ready to start sending listings, you’ll need to provide your Salesforce ID to your syndication partner, which you can find under your account profile in Kijiji My Business.

How to find your Salesforce ID (for feed syndication)2022-04-04T11:06:45-04:00

For any feed, we require that your unique Kijiji Salesforce ID to be included with your listings. Your feed provider can instruct you on where this needs to be inputted. Visit Kijiji My Business, hover over your name in the upper right corner and select “view” to open your profile, where the Salesforce ID is listed.

What does it mean when text on the dashboard is showing as blue and bolded?2021-10-26T11:53:04-04:00

If you see blue text on your Home dashboard, this means that an ad managed by a feed has been edited manually, and must be “reverted” in order for your feed to update this listing or location. Please click “revert” on the Edit Ad or Edit Location pages, then save, and your ad will be updated to the version in your feed during our next update.

FAQ’s

Map Release FAQ2023-04-19T15:27:37-04:00

How can I see and test the map?

The map is being gradually released to a percentage of Kijiji users, which means you may have to wait until you are included in the group who sees the map. Once you have the version of the app with map, you will be able to switch to the map view from your search results page. In the “For Rent” and “For Sale” categories under Real Estate, these will default to map view when loading search results.

How many visitors are using the map vs. list view?

Since we will be collecting data on usage of the map as the rollout continues, we don’t have a concrete answer for this yet. However, we do expect a strong adoption of the map based on our surveys and user testing.

How do the different features look/work on the map?

The treatment and functionality of the features may change over the course of the rollout. Bump ups move your ad back to the top of the map list so that within the search area, we list ads by most recently posted/bumped up. Bump ups basically work as they do on a traditional SRP, so if your listing is in the results on the map, it will be bumped up from its organic spot in the drawer.

Top Ads still keep your ad in the dedicated slots at the top of the map list, however, they now also receive a unique pin on the map to help them stand out vs. other listings. They also show the price of the listing.

The Highlight feature has been changed significantly. Highlight used to provide your listing with a highlighted background on the Search Results Page, but on map view it will increase the size of your listing card on the map list by 2x, and on the Grid/List view, it also increases the size of your listing card by 2x.

Will the performance of my listings and features change? What can I expect?

We have done extensive research and testing with users on how they respond to the presentation and placement of our different features and we aim to maintain similar performance with a hybrid map/list audience.

We expect user behaviour to change and adapt to the map as it rolls out. Since this is a new view, we won’t have clarity on user behaviour until the feature is live. As users start to engage with the map view, we will iterate to compliment their behaviour—for example, visual treatment or placements. We’ll continue to learn and improve the map experience to ensure we deliver a great experience for users, and strong value for our customers.

How long do we expect the test to last and what is the rollout plan?

We expect the test to last for only about a month before we expect it to be rolled out to 100%.

Is it worth having a large feature package with the new map feature?

Yes. Our reps will be equipped with the most current insights on the performance of features so you can adjust your strategy if and when the opportunity presents itself. If we see the performance of a particular feature increasing, we’ll certainly keep you informed to make sure you are using the right visibility features for your audience.

Is the map available on desktop, mobile app and mobile web?

It will only be available in the all new Kijiji Mobile app.

Will my Bump Up and Top Ad schedules be impacted?

No, they will not be impacted.

What is the intersection listed on my ads, and where does it come from?2021-10-25T15:57:08-04:00

Kijiji Real Estate has upgraded our listings to show the nearest major intersection for each property. Especially in larger cities, this offers some helpful information about the specific location of the home. This information is populated by a third party service with extensive expertise in geolocation. If the nearest intersection is reflected incorrectly for your listing, please contact our support team.

What does DOK stand for?2020-11-19T16:16:12-04:00

Days on Kijiji. This is the number of consecutive days your listing has been live on Kijiji.ca

How many inactive ads can I have?2020-11-19T16:13:41-04:00

You can store as many listings in your inactive folder as you need. We recommend deleting units that you no longer manage, or duplicate listings of the same unit to help you stay organized.

Why does my ad on Kijiji.ca say it was posted 3 days ago when it’s been live for longer?2022-09-15T16:16:00-04:00

Kijiji My Business provides a great perk exclusive to subscriptions; an automatic “re-post” every 31 days is automatically applied for all listings, resetting the post date, and moving the listing back to page 1. This is why your ad may show a post date more recent then the original post date.

Do ads expire?2020-11-18T15:34:23-04:00

Your KMB listings will not expire, they remain published until you chose to remove them from the site.

Why doesn’t the ad go live immediately?2020-11-18T15:32:55-04:00

Why doesn’t the ad go live immediately?

The KMB Manager runs on a feed cycle system. We export new listings, deletes, and updates three times per day. Given the high volume of listings that we receive to post daily, it’s important that we stagger the publications to maintain an equitable marketplace.

Why can’t I see all my ads in Kijiji My Business? (Client vs. Manager Settings)2021-10-26T11:45:40-04:00

There are two user access types in KMB: Client and Manager. Client level access will give you access to freely view, create, feature and modify all ads. Manager level access will only allow you to view and modify ads you have created, or been delegated by a Client user at your company. If you need to change your access level, please request access internally, your Client users have the ability to make this change.

What does the “Current Page” column in KMB refer to?2021-10-26T11:46:43-04:00

The “current page” of your listing is its page rank in the Long Term Rentals subcategory for the Kijiji region in which the ad is posted. As users select filters like bedroom, bathroom and price range, your relative rank improves if you are still relevant to the renter’s preferences.

To illustrate using an example, a user browsing the Long Term Rentals category may see your ad on page 12, however once they select the Townhouse and 2 bedroom filters, your ad suddenly jumps to page 2 or 3.

Why is my ad showing in the wrong location on Kijiji?2020-05-20T21:57:59-04:00

The advertised physical location of your ad is based on the selection you made when creating the location. When you set up your “Location(s)” which represent buildings or groups of listings, you are required to complete the address information. All subsequent listings you create are advertised in the same region.

If you have any trouble with your ad appearing in the correct Kijiji region, or on the map, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll make sure it gets resolved quickly!

My ad is on Kijiji, but I can’t find it in Kijiji My Business (KMB)…2021-10-26T11:46:35-04:00

There’s a listing on Kijiji for one of my products, but I can’t find it in KMB, what should I do?

  1. Consider if you have another account directly through Kijiji.ca that might have posted this listing. Did you remember to cancel your existing listings on-site once you started with?
  2. Check your “active” folder in KMB, reference the Kijiji ID to find a match. Don’t forget to make use of the search bar in KMB to make this easier.
  3. Check your “inactive” folder in KMB. If you or your team have queued an ad for removal, your ad may still be live until our next update cycle, simply waiting until the next morning, or afternoon should see the discrepancy resolved.
  4. If your ad can’t be found in KMB, and you are pretty sure it wasn’t deleted recently, reach out to [email protected].
My ad is “Pending” what does that mean?2020-05-20T21:55:53-04:00

When you first create your listing or “publish”, it will remain in the Pending tab until it becomes “Live” on Kijiji.ca. Your listing will automatically move from Pending to Live once it has been posted to Kijiji.ca. A few notes about Pending listings:

  • Pending ads cannot be featured
  • Pending ads can be edited
  • Pending ads can be moved to Inactive
  • Pending ads can be deleted

If your ad is pending for longer than 24 hours, please contact [email protected].

Scheduled Features Tools

Safeguard to control your costs2022-04-19T14:09:48-04:00

If more features are scheduled than are available in your monthly package, the schedules will execute features based on date and time scheduled until exhausted. When your company feature package reaches zero, the scheduling system will not trigger any a la carte features, so you cannot exceed your budget using this tool.

Managing Schedules2022-05-20T12:25:24-04:00

The basics of the scheduling tool are clear, the feature takes effect at the date (and time) you’ve specified. Easy enough. As more units and schedules are added, complexity is introduced and it’s important to understand the intricacies of the system to ensure you are managing effectively.

Managing schedules as a team2022-05-20T14:47:13-04:00

Users with a Client profile have admin access to the account and schedules and are responsible for monitoring your company’s overall scheduled feature usage. This person should coordinate with those responsible for managing vacancies to ensure that features are not scheduled and reserved for ads that are no longer active. Without coordination, this could result in leftover features if the account is not monitored.

Managing vacancy and schedules2022-05-20T14:47:44-04:00

Deactivating or deleting an ad from Kijiji My Business or a data feed will not remove it from your schedule(s) but it will adjust the counters to allow you to allocate features to other active listings. Make sure to coordinate your vacancy and schedules to make sure features are not reserved for inactive ads.

How often should I review my schedules?2022-05-20T14:48:19-04:00

You should review your schedule any time your vacancy changes for a particular building or unit that is associated with a schedule. If a unit is removed that has bump ups allocated, you’ll want to re-allocate them. In addition, we recommend a check at the beginning of the month to ensure your schedules reflect this month’s priority, and towards the end of the month to ensure all bump ups are used.

A note on timing…2022-05-20T14:48:45-04:00

All times quoted are Eastern Standard Time. Please make sure to account for your local timezone.

Bump Ups – Set it but don’t forget it2022-05-20T14:49:20-04:00

Try to invest some of the time saved executing bump ups by reviewing your competition, the types of responses you are receiving at different times, and adjust your strategy and schedules accordingly. Your advertising consultant can provide data to help identify traffic trends that can suggest when you may want to promote your listings.

When should I schedule Bump Ups?2022-05-20T14:49:40-04:00

To help determine when to schedule your bump ups, think about when your ideal tenant is likely to be searching for apartments. For example, students may be searching in the evening/night, and professionals before work, at lunch, or during the evening. Leverage your expertise to get your ads in front of the right people, when they’re looking.

Should I schedule Bump Ups outside of business hours?2022-05-20T14:50:03-04:00

There are some fantastic opportunities to take advantage of active home seekers outside of business hours, including evenings, and weekends. Kijiji Real Estate traffic is relatively steady throughout the week, and a huge amount of visitors reply outside of normal business hours. By scheduling your ads to bump up outside of business hours, you can tap into this demographic, and fill your units faster.

How can I plan to use all my scheduled bump ups by the end of the month?2022-05-20T14:50:40-04:00

The scheduler has counters to help determine how many features have been reserved for use during the month. This number is an estimate based on the assumption that you will not change your schedules, your monthly bump up package does not change, and all of the units scheduled for bump ups remain active. If any of these changes occur, we recommend reviewing your schedules thoroughly. As a general recommendation, you should check your schedule and budget at least twice monthly to make sure they are up to date, and reflect your priorities. Our support team and account reps have extensive knowledge of this system, please don’t hesitate to ask for help!

Top Ads – How do I use the Scheduled Top Ads tool?2022-05-20T14:50:58-04:00

1. Create a schedule
2. Add Top Ads to your schedule and save.
3. Review committed vs. available features for the current and next month.

We have prepared a short walkthrough of how to use the tool. You can find that here:

How do Top Ads work?2022-05-20T14:51:14-04:00

We have prepared a short video to walk and talk you through how the feature works. If you have questions, or would like to learn more about strategy or pricing, please contact your account rep.

Is a Top Ad an effective feature in every region?2022-05-20T14:51:33-04:00

The short answer is yes. Top Ads can multiply the number of views on your listing, since a second copy of your ad is kept at the top. If a region has a lot of renters, but fewer Top Ads present, you may see a higher increase in view and lead volume.

Can I add the same unit to multiple Top Ad schedules?2022-05-20T14:52:05-04:00

No, the system will only allow a unit to be added to one schedule to avoid allocating more features than can be consumed on one listing within the month. If a unit has been scheduled, it will no longer be available on the “set units” page.
